Crowd the Airwaves: Brand Identity

Case study for the branding and identity of my personal project, Crowd the Airwaves.

Founded in 2013, Crowd the Airwaves is a three-piece alternative and punk rock band based in the greater NYC Metropolitan Area. As a founding member, I decided to take on on design and art direction duties for the band, while also including my work as part of my senior project and survey display at Pratt. As we moved forward, our logo and brand vision expanded into print and digital media.

Role: Graphic designer, illustrator, art director

Skills: Typography; print collateral design; social media marketing

Deliverables: Digital logo; stickers; banner; business cards; social media ads; website design

Logo Development

The original concept for our logo was to add an illustrative element alluding to “airwaves.” Despite what we thought were some killer sketches at the time, we changed our direction: a simple wordmark based on the font, Sanchez. The decision was made with ease of reproduction in mind; we did not want any fine details getting lost, and we wanted for our music to speak for itself. We opted for the “airwaves” imagery to solely exist in the logomark.
